This applies to almost all varieties of the species mentioned, but only from an age of approx. five years. However, freshly planted and younger specimens need a light one Winter protection. On the other hand, rarer species such as the sphericalBuddleia (Buddleja globosa), the Himalayan Buddleja colvillei and the yellow buddleia (Buddleja x weyeriana). These Buddleia should only be cultivated in the bucket, when planted in the garden they freeze to death and - in contrast to Buddleja davidii and alternifolia - do not sprout again.
