Why use natural remedies?
Oils and waxes form a natural bond with wood as a material. However, unlike paint, the protective layer does not seal the pores; the material can continue to breathe. Also, oils and waxes do not give off any harmful vapors. They emphasize the beauty of the grain and convey a very natural look.

Oiling is not enough to protect against weathering
However, the protective effect for the outside area is not sufficient for sensitive woods. If you would also like to do without lacquer here, it is better to use naturally resistant types of wood such as larch. This does not require any additional weather protection. For example, untreated larch develops a beautiful, silver-gray patina and at the same time offers high resistance to the natural aging process of wood.
How is it oiled?
Correct application is important so that the agents can penetrate well.
- Either spray wooden surfaces with water using a spray bottle or pretreat them with a damp cloth. Do not forget grooves, a brush is suitable for this. This step is necessary so that the fine wood fibers straighten up.
- Sand well, until the material has a velvety feel.
- Vacuum off the resulting wood dust between the individual sanding steps and water again.
- Do not apply oil or wax until a day later and without a special primer.
- You can use a brush or a cloth to do this.
- Apply generously and spread in the direction of the wood fiber.
- Let it soak in well and rub in excess with a cloth.
- Let the surfaces dry for at least a day.
